In the Tradition of Bucks and Lehigh County Impressionists
Paintings by Jill Peckelun
Jill Peckelun is an alla prima plein air painter who is, as Wayne Art Center’s Plein Air Jurist Sara Linda Poly says, “a colorist with a distinctive style that sets her apart.”
Jill Peckelun grew up on a farm in Lebanon County, PA. She received a Bachelor of Arts from Albright College, Reading and moved to Allentown where she studied drawing and painting at local art schools. She took private classes in painting with John N. Booth for over eight years while employed by the City of Allentown. In 1999, Jill began painting full time and continues to do so.
Jill Peckelun has won numerous awards in juried fine art exhibitions on a regional, national, and international basis and was awarded signature member status in the International Society of Acrylic Painters in 2004. She’s won first place in the Kutztown Alfresco! Plein Air Festival in 2009 and 4th place in the Wayne Art Center’s Plein Air Festival in 2007. Jill works in the studio on very rainy days.
One dealer describes Jill Peckelun’s work as follows: “The work has that difficult to achieve appearance of spontaneity. Lively brushwork, thick paint.”
